Krisi Cleveland was born in New York, and moved to Tokyo with her family as a child. She has a deep connection to Japanese language and culture that has spanned the past 30 years. In addition to living in Tokyo, Krisi spent a semester in Yokohama as a high school exchange student, and three years in Nagoya, where her son was born. Krisi feels lucky to have the best of both worlds by living in the US, but spending her days with Japanese people. She still misses Japan's great public transportation system, and her favorite Japanese foods.
Krisi was born to teach. She loves the process of exchanging information and culture as she guides students toward improved communication skills. Krisi started her professional life as a public school teacher in Nashville, and continued teaching with the JET Program in Nagoya, Japan. Upon returning from Japan, she knew she wanted to keep working with Japanese people, so she started Eikaiwa Nashville. In addition to being a licensed teacher, Krisi has a Teaching English as a Second Language certificate from Tennessee Foreign Language Institute. She's been teaching for 15 years.

Eikaiwa Nashville was started in 2006 to offer language training and cultural exchange opportunities to Japanese people in Nashville.
Private and semi-private lessons are available for preschool-age children to adults.
Lessons are custom-designed for each person depending on their specific goals, and often focus on American pronunciation, listening, and conversation skills.
The Eikaiwa Nashville method is a highly effective way for students to bridge the gap between the standard Japanese accent and North American English pronunciation.
